Carleigh and BJ together in 2004 – Success story!
Carlena Dowden is a 4th grade student with big ambitions and a bigger heart!
Her love for animals has inspired her to spend nearly the whole year hand making various creations that she is selling at craft fairs and offices in the community. Carlena is also planning to organize a bottle drive to increase her contribution. Thus far, she has raised over $500 and will continue throughout the holiday season.
Carlena plans to pay fully for the surgery and treatment of the very sweet and loving Cocker Spaniel named B.J. that is currently at the SPCA.
During one of the recent fairs she participated in, Carlena made special arrangements with one of the vendors she met there, named Mel Farrell that she create and design a new unique scratching perch for the cats at the shelter. Mel has generously agreed to donate his time to make the item, and will only be charging Carlena for the materials needed. This will make a wonderful gift for all of the cats to share and enjoy.
If you see this little girl in the community, lend a hand and support her in this effort to raise money to help the animals here at the SPCA.
Update: the final total was almost $1500!
